Continental Supervisory Board Elects Prof. Dr. Ing Wolfgang Reitzle as Chairman

Wolfgang Schäfer appointed as CFO / Appointment to be taken up on January 1, 2010 / José A. Avila to become member of Executive Board on January 1, 2010 / Head of Powertrain division

In its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of Continental AG elected Prof. Dr. Ing. Wolfgang Reitzle (60), chairman of the Executive Board of Linde AG, as its chairman. At the same time, the Supervisory Board appointed Wolfgang Schäfer (50) as a regular member of the Continental AG Executive Board. He will take up his appointment on January 1, 2010, and will be responsible for the areas of finance, controlling, IT and law. José A. Avila (54) was also appointed to the Executive Board of Continental AG. He will assume his position on January 1, 2010, taking over as head of the Powertrain division.

Following the meeting, the new Continental Supervisory Board chairman Prof. Reitzle noted: "With the personnel decisions made today, the Executive Board of Continental AG is now complete and well structured. This creates the basis for leading Continental on into a sustainably successful future."

Wolfgang Schäfer studied business administration in Munich und Münster and later earned an MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. After working at several different companies, including Robert Bosch, he joined Behr GmbH & Co KG, Stuttgart, in 2001 as member of the board of management. In his current position there as Group CFO, he is responsible for the financial and controlling functions, purchasing, HR and IT. He is also CEO of Behr Germany.

José A. Avila studied engineering sciences in Bogota and Pittsburgh. He is currently general manager of the Delphi Diesel Systems unit at the US supplier Delphi. He previously headed business units at Delphi that focused on innovative drive technologies, particularly in the diesel sector.
