CompuGroup Medical expands presence in Spain
Acquisition of hospital division from SIVSA
With this acquisition, CompuGroup Medical is consistently continuing its growth strategy. The provider of medical information technologies now has locations in 22 countries around the globe and is also represented in South America for the first time. Today, the company already has the largest range of software products among medical service providers around the world. Closing of the transaction is scheduled for February 2011 and is subject to prior demerger of the healthcare department from what is currently part of SIVSA, Soluciones Informáticas, S.A, Vigo, Spain.
SIVSA has been developing software applications for over 15 years, including for hospitals and laboratories. The company is the market leader in north-west Spain and has additional locations in Portugal, Brazil, Chile and Morocco. The hospital division of SIVSA is an ideal supplement to the existing CompuGroup Medical portfolio: in addition to medical information systems (AIS), hospital information systems (KIS) are now also covered on the Spanish market. Furthermore, the company group is now present in four additional countries for the first time.
Frank Gotthardt, Chairman of the Board of CompuGroup Medical AG, sums up the acquisition: "With this latest acquisition, we are pursuing our strategy of continual growth. SIVSA is a very efficient company. Following successful integration, we will upgrade the existing software for our international platform strategy and add interfaces to our SAM modules. SAM stands for Software Assisted Medicine and offers the doctor intelligent access to patients for relevant decisions or in the case of precise medical knowledge. This means we combine the tried and tested with the new and therefore begin to develop the enormous vertical growth potential of our markets."
