CompuGroup Medical enters the Swiss Healthcare Market

Acquisition of the market leader for hospital information systems

(PresseBox) (Koblenz, )
CompuGroup Medical stays focused on pursuing their growth strategy. The company today executed a contract with MCS for the acquisition of all assets of Parametrix AG and Parametrix Deutschland GmbH. With this purchase, CompuGroup Medical, the provider of medical information technology, is now represented in the Swiss healthcare market. Parametrix is the Swiss market leader in the hospital information sector.

The company, who has 51 employees, has their primary headquarters in Niederwangen near Bern and also has a subsidiary in Eltville, Germany. With a market share of close to 30% of the acute care hospital sector and nearly 20% of rehabilitation and social services facilities, Parametrix is a market leader for hospital information systems (HIS) in Switzerland. The total revenues in 2010 were almost 6 million euros, based on the acquired assets.

"The acquisition of Parametrix is a strategic investment in the acute care and rehabilitation market," emphasized Frank Gotthardt, chairman of CompuGroup Medical AG. "Our expansion strategy has proven itself to be successful and we will remain on that path and continue our growth so we can provide even more hospitals and medical centers with optimal solutions at the international level," continued the company founder.

The entry into the Swiss healthcare market comes at a very opportune time. Based on numbers that were provided by the OECD, in 2006 Switzerland had the second-highest healthcare expenses in the world when measured as a share of the gross domestic product. After the successful integration of Parametrix's products into the corporation, the existing software will be upgraded for the international platform strategy. Swiss hospitals will therefore have access to modular solutions that can easily be integrated into existing processes. They will contribute to slimming down operating procedures and thereby a significant reduction of costs.
