CompuGROUP further expands its presence in Italy

(PresseBox) (Koblenz, )
CompuGROUP, a leading global provider of eHealth, successfully continues to strengthen its engagement in Italy. On October 29, CompuGROUP acquired the two Italian companies SMI and Microcosmos.

Since its inception, CompuGROUP has grown organically and through acquisitions. The eHealth provider already entered the Italian market in June of 2006, through an investment in the company FirmeSan SpA. Today, CompuGroup again significantly strengthened its engagement: through the acquisition of SMI and Microcosmos, who are both active in the same market, the market share in Italy will be significantly increased. In addition to the strong market position in Southern Italy, CompuGROUP now also has a significant share of the market in Northern Italy.

It is CompuGroup's goal to make relevant medical information available to service providers electronically and at the right time with Decision Support Systems, based on the doctor information system used by the respective medical practice. "Since we now have significantly more physicians participating, we can offer the users added Decision Support. The pharmaceutical industry, as well as local and national organizations, are our partners in this endeavor," describes Jan Broer, member of the board and in charge of the Southern European region, the future of CompuGROUP Italy.

When the companies were acquired, it was very important that the previous owners were convinced of the new direction. Angelo Aprile of SMI said, "I was convinced by the projects that CompuGROUP is already jointly operating in many other countries with the pharmaceutical industry. I look forward to being able to contribute toward designing better care."

Vittorio Giura and Carlo Catullo, who were shareholders in Microcosmos prior to the acquisition, are convinced as well: "We wanted to be part of a strong group in order to meet the new demands. Despite CompuGROUP's enormous size, the focus is on the individual physician - all projects are geared toward his needs. That's exactly how we've always interpreted our mission."
