Bern, 23 May 2007 — WeRoam, a leading wholesale aggregator of Public WLAN roaming, and Entel S.A., the second largest telecommunications company in Chile, recently signed a WLAN roaming agreement. Entel can now add to their mobile data services access to a broad international WLAN network. In the same agreement, Entel opened its national network of more than 200 hotspots to all existing WeRoam customers.
For bundling global WLAN access with mobile data services, WeRoam was the obvious choice for Entel. WeRoam is indeed the only aggregator of public WLAN networks able to offer SIM authentication and thereby true bundled data solutions. Integration into the existing GSM network infrastructure was straightforward, as it only requires one connection between the WeRoam infrastructure and Entel’s Home Location Register (HLR). With this interconnection Entel customers now can access an international footprint of over 30,000 hotspots in more than 60 countries. Combined with a full set of back office services - including standard roaming billing and clearing procedures – Entel is in the position to provide GSM/WLAN data bundles to its subscribers.
"WeRoam’s focus has always been on ease of accessibility for end-users and simple and cost effective integration into MNOs core infrastructure. We strongly believe that both factors have direct influence on the potential revenue created by the existing customer base. We are proud that Entel supports our strategy by selecting our services.” said Toni Stadelmann, Vice Chairman of Comfone.
