Comfone announces its new innovative Data Roaming solution

Integrated into its industry-leading Key2roam hub, Comfone has developed a Data Roaming solution requiring minimal implementation, testing and maintenance overhead

Bern, (PresseBox) - Bern, Switzerland, 28 January, 2010 – Comfone, provider of roaming services to more than 300 operators in over 130 countries, today announced its new Data Roaming solution, currently in its trial phase. By fully integrating data layers into its Key2roam hub, the biggest roaming hub in the world with 130 live members, Comfone has simplified the implementation and maintenance of data roaming relations for mobile network operators.

The record breaking consumer use of mobile internet phones or smartphones is fuelling the rapid growth in data roaming traffic and is increasingly requiring mobile network operators to support mobile broadband applications, data content and internet access. In response to operators’ requirements for an increased data roaming footprint and based on growing user demand for data roaming service anytime and anywhere, Comfone has expanded beyond voice on its industry leading Key2roam hub and developed a simple, robust, secure and cost-effective Data Roaming solution. By accelerating the implementation of data roaming, Comfone can significantly increase operators’ data roaming footprint.

Testing of Comfone’s new Data Roaming solution is currently underway with three major mobile network operators in Europe and Africa and is scheduled for completion in the first quarter 2010. With the commercial launch scheduled for the second quarter 2010, Comfone will offer network operators a high quality Data Roaming solution requiring minimal implementation and resource investment.

Daniel Heutschi, Executive Vice President Product Management, explained that “Comfone is collaborating closely with its customers to build a reliable, simplified Data Roaming solution. By integrating data roaming into Comfone’s Key2roam hub, we are in alignment with their network requirements. In this way, Comfone continues to stay a step ahead of the market by developing new roaming solutions.”

Comfone’s innovative approach is part of its overall, customer-orientated data roaming strategy. In addition to the data roaming enhancement of its Key2roam hub solution, Comfone’s data roaming strategy also includes its award-winning WeRoam Wireless IP roaming platform with a global aggregated footprint of over 60’000 hotspots and its highly scalable GRX service.
