Wie kürzlich bekannt gegeben wurde, lieferten die USA an die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate, an Saudi-Arabien, Katar, Bahrein und Kuweit Waffen für 72 Milliarden US-Dollar.
Der größte Teil der scharfen Lieferung ging an Saudi-Arabien. Alle Länder, die die USA mit Waffen belieferten, sind im Kooperationsrat mit den USA verbunden.
Momentan wird über weitere Liferungen verhandelt. Saudi-Arabien wünscht die Modernisierung der herkömmlichen Bomben und zudem die Umgestaltung dieser Bomben in Präzisionswaffen. Mit der Entscheidung des US-Kongresses über jene Lieferungen ist bis Mitte Februar zu rechnen.
