Dubai: VAE-Satellit im Weltall!

Die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate haben nun ihren ersten Satelliten in die Umlaufbahn geschossen.

Seit Ende Juli ist er nun auf seinem Beobachtungsposten im Weltall und zieht 680 Kilometer über dem Erdboden mit einer Geschwindigkeit von 27.000 Kilometern in der Stunde seine Runden. Dem Satelliten wird eine Lebensdauer von rund fünf Jahren prognostiziert.

Das Satelliten-Projekt wird vom einheimischen „Institut für Wissenschaft und Technologie“ (EIAST) gelenkt und kostet die Verantwortlichen rund 50 Millionen US-Dollar.
