Heutzutage ist die PTCRB Zertifizierung Voraussetzung um Funkgeräte auf dem nordamerikanischen Markt verkaufen zu können. Eine Anerkennung von PTCRB stellt sicher, dass die technischen Voraussetzungen gemäß NAPRD (North American Program Reference Document) sowie regulatorischer und Netzbetreiber-Anforderungen eingehalten werden.

Daher ist die PTCRB Zertifizierung ein entscheidender Meilenstein für Hersteller, die ihre Produkte in den USA und Kanada vermarkten möchten. Dies betrifft nicht nur herkömmliche Hersteller von Mobilfunkgeräten, sondern auch zellulare Modulintegratoren die den IoT/M2M Markt bedienen.
