Ab dem kommenden Jahr wird die 5-tägige Schulung "Hacker Contest" als CAST-Seminar angeboten. Die Veranstaltung wird durchgeführt von IT-Sicherheitsexperten des Center for Advanced Security Research Darmstadt (CASED) und der encomit UG. Ziel des Hacker Contest ist es, den Teilnehmern den Begriff IT-Sicherheit praxisnah und vielschichtig zu vermitteln. In einer Testumgebung kann jeder Teilnehmer das Erlernte sofort umsetzen. So werden nicht nur Techniken zur Abwehr von Angriffen vermittelt, sondern auch Einblicke in die Methoden und Denkweisen von Hackern. Als Themengebiete werden - neben einer Einführung - Angriffsvorbereitung, Angriffe in lokalen Netzen, Anwendungssicherheit, Firewall, Angriffserkennung und Sicherheit von Funknetzen behandelt. Der erste Termin 2011 findet vom 14.-18. März in Darmstadt statt, der Einführungspreis beträgt 1990 Euro.
