CANopen profile for item detection devices

CAN in Automation (CiA) has released the CiA 462 CANopen profile for item detection devices. This includes 2D and 3D optical cameras. Item detection devices are often used in mobile machines to detect obstacles. They collect environmental data by some physical effects like light, radar, ultrasonic sound or others. This data is “pixel”-oriented or matrix-like organized. The devices process the row data by means of item detection algorithm. The output is a list of items that were detected.
