CAN physical layer specifications publicly available

CAN in Automation (CiA) has released the CiA 102 and 103 CAN physical layer specifications for industrial automation respectively intrinsically safe capable communication as Draft Standards. The free downloadable CiA 102 specifies eight bitrates for CAN highspeed networks (from 1 Mbit/s to 10 kbit/s) compliant with ISO 11898-2 or ISO 11898-5 (with lowpower capability). The specification also includes some guidelines for the physical medium attachment (PMA) sublayer, and the medium dependent interface (MDI) sublayer. This covers device and system design hints. The updated specification is also the base for CANopen networks using highspeed transceiver chips.
