The DLR is responsible for the planning and implementation of the German space activities. The new installations draw on the profound "know-how" of CAM Systems, combining technology competence, industrial expertise with project management and software engineering skills.
The Video Data Distribution system will be used for the first time in a space control centre. It acquires video streams from workstations (sources) without affecting the sources, and distributes the video streams in a standard format (H.264) over the internal LAN to display them on workstations, projectors or monitors. The Galileo control center in Oberpfaffenhofen will thus optimize its internal processes. With the video control system CAM Systems has once again demonstrated its ability to develop innovative solutions for satellite control centers.
The Voice Intercom System which will also be used in the Galileo Control Center offers a Voice over IP (VoIP) solution, which uses the existing LAN for communication between users of the control rooms. This provides greater flexibility and security. CAM Systems has over 20 years of experience with voice communication systems.
The current project is a breakthrough in the market. With the DLR-Galileo project as a reference, the management at CAM System is convinced that a basis for profitable growth in this business segment has been created. To quote John Dallat, CAM Systems chief operations officer, "Our know-how in this area has over the years continuously developed and grown. This experience has profoundly influenced the development of our own VoIP-System, which has been specifically designed to accommodate the issues in satellite control centers" .
