The bid is open to companies, organizations, and research centers turning new ideas into marketable products and services. Euro-CASE is a not-for-profit European organization of national academies from 18 European countries. The ICT award is sponsored and supported by the European Commission. It is open to organizations from 33 countries.

This year's theme was: "Product novelties or services with significant IT content and recognizable market potential." byometric systems AG participated in the bid along with 450 competitors and has now been voted to be among the 70 best entries and thus nominated for the ICT award. byometric systems AG presented its unique technology solution for a large-scale implementation of iris recognition in a bank environment using a Swiss private bank as an example. The three best solutions will receive the award plus €200,000.00 on March 16, 2007, during the CeBit in Hannover, Germany.
