A strict selection process developed by the University of St. Gallen forms the basis for awarding the coveted places in the ranking of top companies. The annual turnover of the listed firms must be at least 50 million Euro and half of it must be generated abroad and on at least three continents.
The international Busch Group, to which Pfeiffer Vacuum AG also belongs, employs around 8,000 employees in 110 subsidiaries located in 45 countries around the world, and thus fulfills the strict selection criteria for World Market Leader.
The vacuum pump company was founded 60 years ago by Ayhan and Dr Karl Busch. Global expansion began in 1971 with the establishment of the first sales company in Great Britain. In 1979, the first production plant outside Germany was built in the USA. There are now production sites in China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Romania, South Korea, Switzerland, the USA, and Vietnam. To this day, Dr Karl Busch and his wife Ayhan manage the company together with their three children Ayla, Sami and Kaya Busch.
The HUCKEPACK, the first vacuum pump developed by Dr Karl Busch, was designed for packaging foodstuffs. Its successor, the R5 – a compact rotary vane vacuum pump – revolutionized the food packaging industry. Busch has been the world market leader in this application for decades.
Today, the company’s extensive product portfolio offers solutions for vacuum and overpressure applications for all industrial sectors, such as the chemical industry, the semiconductor industry, medical technology, the plastics industry and woodworking.
