Bundesminister Rösler: "Die Vertrauenskrise der Europäischen Währungsunion können wir nur überwinden, wenn sich alle Mitgliedsländer zu einem gemeinsamen Wertefundament bekennen und für verbesserte Wettbewerbsfähigkeit sorgen. Die erfolgreichen Reformprozesse in Portugal und Lettland hin zu mehr Wettbewerbsfähigkeit sind beispielgebend. Mit Blick auf die anstehenden EU-Vertragsänderungen brauchen wir einen neuen finanz- und wirtschaftspolitischen Ordnungsrahmen. Dazu habe ich eine 10-Punkte Strategie für einen Stabilitäts- und Wachstumspakt II vorgeschlagen. Nationale Schuldenbremsen und automatisierte Sanktionsmechanismen gehören zum Beispiel ebenso dazu, wie die Einrichtung eines "Stabilitätsgremiums unabhängiger Experten". Nur so können wir die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit Europas steigern und auch in Zukunft erfolgreich bleiben."
Mit hochkarätigen nationalen wie internationalen Wirtschaftsexperten und Politikern wurde in zwei Panels intensiv über Wege aus der gegenwärtigen Staatsschuldenkrise und zur Stärkung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit diskutiert.
