A seasoned professional with over 20 years experience in IT and communications sales, Mathew will be building Foundry's presence in these sectors which includes, among others, the armed forces, probation services, emergency services and intelligence agencies.
Prior to joining Foundry, Mr. Smith worked as a client manager for three years in the UK major accounts team at systems integrator, Telindus Limited, winning new business and developing accounts focused in the same sectors.
Foundry has an extensive track record in the defence, criminal justice and homeland security markets based on numerous customer projects abroad. A significant portion of Foundry's revenue is generated from US Federal government sales including the Department of Defence, Intelligence Agencies and local civilian government.
The US Army in Europe has standardised on Foundry products for its entire Layer 2/3 switch needs and has a substantial amount of equipment deployed in sites throughout Europe. Foundry technology is also used at some of the largest US Air Force bases.
Commenting on why he joined the company, Mathew Smith says, "Foundry has a well known reputation for offering high-performance, feature rich networking technology at the very best price making the company's networking solutions ideal for the UK defence, criminal justice and homeland security markets. It will be satisfying to build the business in an area where we really meet customer needs, such as IPv6 and MPLS capability, as the military, for example, delivers on its vision for Network Enabled Capability."
