German Engineering: BMZ Group supply Eurabus with bus battery systems in worth of 200 million Euro

(PresseBox) (Karlstein am Main, )
The future belongs to electric mobility. In the near future, special batteries are expected to power millions of electric vehicles and provide long driving ranges. At the moment, just 300 of the roughly 45.000 public transport buses in Germany are electrically powered - and only half of them use battery technology. While emission-free and carbon neutral driving are seen as the biggest advantages, electric drives offer a real alternative to conventional engines in other respects, for example, electric motors require significantly less maintenance than conventional combustion engines.

For this reason, BMZ Group, the European supplier of battery systems, supplies Eurabus GmbH, an innovative company in the electromobility sector, with more than 1.000 electric bus battery systems worth 200 million euros. "The battery supply from BMZ to Eurabus is a milestone for the e-bus industry. Europe-wide demand for e-buses is on the increase - a real boom is emerging for public transport, "explains Sven Bauer, CEO & Founder of the BMZ Group.

BMZ batteries set the standard for electric drives

The BMZ Group develops battery systems for E-Buses with a length of 12 and 18 meters, designed for use in urban traffic. The BMZ

The BMZ E.Volution Center in Germany developed lithium-ion battery with its own battery management system, allows the e-buses to continue driving even in the event of a partial failure of the battery. “The buses are outfitted with capacities of up to 790 kWh using a modular system, which means they can drive 650 kilometres without a charge. “Cells for the Eurabus E-buses are round cells by BMZ with a high energy density which we, as a company with a global focus on lithium ion applications, manufacture on our own production lines in Japan,” says Sven Bauer.
