For BMW customers, there will be no changes as a result of the introduction of the new E10 fuels will bring no changes. E10 is the classification for petrol fuels with an ethanol content of up to 10%, which German legislation plans to introduce as part of the implementation of the new EU FQD (Fuels Quality Directive 2009/30).
Fuels with a biogenic component will then be able to contribute to a welcome further reduction of CO2 emissions without the need for any vehicle upgrade.
E10 fuels can safely be used in all BMW passenger cars from any model year. Irrespective of the ethanol content, however, the minimum octane rating as specified in the user manual must be observed as before, since some older BMW models require Super Plus RON 98 to reduce knock.
You will find a list of the models that require Super Plus RON 98 in the attached document.
