BMW Group is once again most sustainable automotive company
The BMW Group's Board of Management defined sustainability as a key corporate principle back in 2000. Sustainability throughout the value chain, comprehensive product responsibility and consistent conservation of resources are firmly anchored in the company's processes. The BMW Group is using its strategy for sustainable mobility - which encompasses efficiency increases and further electrification of the power train through to the long-term use of hydrogen - to reduce the CO2 emissions of its entire vehicle fleet. Production sites are minimising their environmental impact and conserving resources. High social standards for the employees of the BMW Group have also been implemented at all locations for decades. The SAM Group analyses the economic, environmental and social performance of approximately 2,500 companies and selects the best in each sector for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes. General sustainability criteria are considered as well as industry-specific challenges such as climate change. The Dow Jones Sustainability Index was the first global sustainability index to be created, in 1999, and has since been published each year by the SAM Group, based in Zurich, in cooperation with Dow Jones Indexes and STOXX Ltd.
