The Auto Express road test team said of the BMW 3 Series Saloon: "Which ever 3 Series you choose, you'll get the same incredible depth of engineering, entertaining driving dynamics and hugely desirable kerbside appeal. It all adds up to a superb package."
The BMW 3 Series Convertible received equally high praise with the team commenting: "In this category, we're looking for the strongest fourseat cabrio lineup on the market, and the BMW is a brilliant allrounder."
The new BMW 5 Series beat off competition from the 2008 Auto Express Car of the Year, the Jaguar XF, to take home the title of 'Best Executive Car'. The 5 Series was commended by the Auto Express team as a car that "appeals to the head . . . [and] also appeals to the heart."
MINI stood its ground and firmly cemented its position as 'Best Premium Supermini' while the Auto Express team commented that "none [of its competitors] can match the allround appeal of the Oxfordbuilt hatchback."
In addition to scooping four outright wins BMW Group products were also commended in two other categories. The BMW Z4 received special praise for its "eyecatching lines" and "gutsy engines" whilst the new BMW X5 was commended for its "mix of onroad agility and surprisingly ecofriendly credentials".
News of the awards comes after BMW picked up a communications award at the LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards, for consistently communicating the benefits of low carbon choices through the advertising of BMW EfficientDynamics technology. The BMW 3 Series 320d EfficientDynamics has also been crowned top Executive Car in the What Car? Green Car Awards 2010.
