Blomberger Holzindustrie B. Hausmann GmbH & Co. KG Implements Capacity Expansion Investment Program

New high-performance press provides new production possibilities

(PresseBox) (Blomberg, )
Blomberger Holzindustrie B. Hausmann GmbH & Co. KG, leading producer of ecological hardwood-based products and system solutions, has implemented at its site in Blomberg an investment program for expanding and modernizing its capacities. A large proportion of the investment volume of around 1.5 Mio. euros has been allotted in the current year to a new multi opening high-performance press.

Among the products to be produced on this press are special high-density products like synthetic resin compressed wood (Panzerholz®, Festholz® [solid wood]) as well as new Delignit composite solutions for use in safety systems. The design of the facility includes a frame structure with six positioned cylinder units to effectuate an even rack layout with the concomitant optimal power transmission and load application. The press will have a specific pressing power of 1,600 N/cm2 and an overall pressing power of ca. 57,000 KN. Made available by this pressing facility are new production capacities for special products which are to be used to expand activities in already existing areas of application as well as to acquire new applications. Owing to the technical parameters of the new facility which are in many respects unique, the expansion of the previous production program yields new possibilities for manufacturing greater dimensions for maximum formats of up to 3 x 2 m and a greater variant diversity while at the same time achieving higher quality demands, e.g., with respect to tolerances. The new facility is planned to go into operation at the end of 2013.

Moreover, for the further economization of system assembly, investment is being done in robot technology as well. With an eye on the trend in customer demand towards ready-to-install components and systems, Blomberger Holzindustrie B. Hausmann GmbH & Co. KG is thereby creating the capacities for the expected growth which, among other things, should be generated by the supplementary serial supply of transporter equipment to a renowned manufacturer of light commercial vehicles scheduled for 2014.

In addition, to augment the capacities for manufacturing veneer, a third joining line will be put into operation. This measure should provide the production-related assurance of the demand for additional quantities of veneer generated in connection with the planned growth.

Blomberger Holzindustrie B. Hausmann GmbH & Co. KG has been able in previous years to successfully unhitch itself from the framework conditions of the European financial and economic crisis as well as from the downsizing in the wood materials manufacturing segment and hold up well in a difficult market environment. Although company management is not expecting any changes in the framework conditions in the short and medium term, further possibilities for growth are envisioned for the future based on the increasing customer demand for wood-based ecological and technological Delignit system solutions and the successful company strategy. With implementation of the investment program and the concomitant upgrade of capacity the prerequisites for the future expanded use of Delignit solutions will have been created.

Blomberger Holzindustrie B. Hausmann GmbH & Co. KG is a subsidiary company of Delignit AG.
