Expansion of BLG's COLDSTORE in Bremerhaven is finished

(PresseBox) (Bremen, )
Due to the ongoing strong demand for freezing space, BLG expanded its COLDSTORE at the Container Terminal Bremerhaven once again this year for about two million Euros. This follows three expansions in the past - the last being in 2006. The new building offers space for 4,500 palettes and is equipped with a modern moveable shelf rack system and an automatic conveying system for stockpiling and stock removal. Additionally the border inspection post (BIP) which is located inside the COLDSTORE buildings will be renewed by BLG. All products of animal origin from NON-EU countries have to be inspected by the BIP before they are allowed to enter the territory of the EU. A longterm rental lease is being made for its use by the competent authorities of the Federal State of Bremen. The opening day of the new BIP is scheduled for the spring 2010.

Construction for the COLDSTORE extension began in January. In September the first sections could start up their operations. All construction work was completed in October, and on November 13th the site officially was inaugurated. With this new building the COLDSTORE now has a total storage capacity of 33,000 palettes for frozen and chilled products, making it the biggest commercial coldstore in Bremerhaven and in the region. With the now completed warehouse for frozen foods, the capacity has more than doubled since it's opening in 1985.

With its 35 employees BLG COLDSTORE LOGISTICS offers all services related to the import and export of refrigerated and frozen products, mainly foodstuffs. This includes supply chain management - from the production in oversees countries to the justintime supply to the production facilities of European producers. Primarily fish products, poultry, meat, fruits and vegetables are being stored. The majority of the goods come from Asia, the USA, Latin America, New Zealand, Russia and Africa. They are mostly raw materials and ingredients for the food industry.
