BLG takes over new activities for Siemens

Bremen, (PresseBox) - The go-ahead was recently given for a new job at the newly built Supplier Logistics Center (SLC) in Falkensee near Berlin. BLG, the tenant of the SLC with around 21,500 square meters of floor space plus outdoor store, is taking over all external warehousing processes for the Siemens switchgear plant in Berlin.

For Siemens commissioning of the new Supplier Logistics Center in immediate proximity to Siemens-Stadt is a big advantage. Logistics activities at various external outdoor storage locations of different service providers were combined and the supply processes from the supplier to the plant set up on a future-oriented basis. Siemens' suppliers will be integrated into contract and consignment warehouses there.

Siemens' suppliers have been bringing materials, such as screws, seals, housings as well as pipes up to 12 meters long, to the SLC in Falkensee since the beginning of the year. Then BLG takes over: its staff carries out technical identification checks, stores, order picks and cleans the materials and ensures just-in-time supply to the production line in the switchgear plant. For this purpose four BLG-owned trucks shuttle between Falkensee and Berlin-Siemensstadt around 24 times a day. The new vehicles have extremely low emissions and are also equipped for meeting the requirements of larger materials and components.
