High performance at the edge of the desert

King Solomon Hotel in Eilat has BITZER ECOSTAR condensing units installed

(PresseBox) (Sindelfingen/Eilat, )
Even in extreme climates, the BITZER ECOSTAR series delivers reliable performance, which is why the operators of King Solomon Hotel in Eilat, Israel, have opted for this system.

Located at the tip of southern Israel, Eilat borders the Negev desert. Temperatures as high as 45 °C are not uncommon here – and that poses real challenges for cooling equipment. The King Solomon luxury hotel therefore puts its trust in the innovative technology of BITZER and, a few weeks ago, had an ECOSTAR system installed for the kitchen and dining area. This technological, economical alternative to several small, fully hermetic units offers about 45 per cent higher performance of up to 27 kW in medium temperature cooling applications. The King Solomon Hotel staff has been very pleased with the system, which with a single unit operates up to 15 cold stores in the positive and negative ranges.
The ECOSTAR LHV6/4CC-9.F3 was installed by project partner Meteor, which has already installed nine systems in smaller businesses and consumer markets in Eilat. Alongside reliable operation, the compact design and simple, quick installation are what make the unit so attractive. The issue of noise generation also played a key role at King Solomon Hotel, as the ECOSTAR is located in the relaxation area surrounding the swimming pool. With noise emissions of 47 dB(A) on average at a distance of 10 metres in low-sound mode (sound pressure level calculated at 50 Hz), the system is exceptionally quiet and therefore doesn’t disturb guests.
Because the system is modulating, it ensures efficient operation. The OCTAGON 4CC-9.F3 compressors with flanged, suction gas-cooled frequency inverter can be infinitely adjusted between 25 and 87 Hz. Thanks to the modulating part-load operation of around 30 to 100 per cent, flexible power adjustment prevents unnecessary compressor starts. Several sensors for ambient air temperature, hot gas and condensing pressure allow the fans to be adjusted to the optimal speed, which in turn reduces noise emissions and energy consumption, as the fan isn’t always operating at full power, and contributes to extending the service life. These are good arguments for the operator, as they help lower running system costs.
The work carried out by the service partner locally is made easier by the extensive control functions, which include an integrated web server with Ethernet connection as standard. Accessing the ECOSTAR control functions via the Internet is therefore extremely easy – and it’s possible to view current operating parameters and any potential errors as well as recognise critical operating situations early on. In this way, BITZER promotes needs-oriented and targeted preventive maintenance, thus saving time and money.
