BITZER at the long-standing HVAC&R Expo in Tokyo

The focus of BITZER’s presence at the 38th HVAC&R Expo in Japan will be on the reciprocating compressors of the NEW ECOLINE and OCTAGON CO2 series, ORBIT 6 and ORBIT 8 scroll compressors and compact screw compressors of the CSH series. The expo, which takes place from January 28–31, 2014, in Tokyo, is among Asia’s most important events for the refrigeration and air conditioning industries.

Since April 2013, BITZER has been manufacturing the NEW ECOLINE semi-hermetic reciprocating compressor series, with displacements ranging from four to 221 cubic meters per hour. One feature of the compressor is its high energy efficiency coupled with an extended application range. Apart from R134a, NEW ECOLINE can also be used with numerous other refrigerants, for instance, R404A, R407A, R407C, R407F, R507A or R290 and R1270.

Series for transcritical CO2 applications
Based on its OCTAGON compressor series, BITZER has developed its own series for the specific demands of transcritical CO2 applications. The compressor specialist extended this CO2 series through the introduction of the Type 4PTC-6K for lower displacement and the Types 4DTC-25K and 4CTC-30K for higher displacements. Thus the series now extends at 50 Hertz from 4.3 to 25.6 cubic meters displacement per hour. As a result, these energy-efficient compressors offer an impressively wide application range, allowing them to be used in a great number of system variants.
Gianni Parlanti, BITZER Director of Business Development, explains that “compressors for transcritical – as well as subritical – CO2 applications have to meet special safety, dependability, and efficiency requirements because of the particular characteristics of CO2 itself. Thermal loads, high operating pressures, and high specific refrigerating capacity combine to produce considerable forces and burdens on smaller components. BITZER has developed new standards over recent years in connection with subcritical and transcritical operation and by meeting requirements in the adaptation of its compressors’ performance.‟

CSH: reliable powerhouses
The tried-and-tested compact screw compressors of the CSH series are suitable for universal use and feature an economizer and oil cooler port. “CSH screw compressors are fitted with dual capacity control and can be adjusted infinitely or according to scale. The level of energy efficiency is very good in both full-load and part-load operation. These compressors particularly show their strength in air conditioning systems, heat pumps and individual short circuits,” says Parlanti.

Rigorously energy-efficient: ORBIT 6/8
With between 10 and 20 hp, the ORBIT 6 scroll compressor series for R410A has been specially designed for air conditioning and heat pump applications, and has a wide application range from –20ºC to 50ºC. A total of five models offer displacements extending from 20 to 38 cu. m/h (50 Hz) and offer cooling capacities of between 27 and 51 kW. The ORBIT 6 series is characterized by its low sound levels, which make these energy-efficient scroll compressors particularly suited for use in air conditioning systems and heat pumps. They therefore form the ideal complement to the larger ORBIT 8 series scroll compressors.
The tried-and-tested ORBIT 8 series, developed specially for use with R410A, features six displacement volumes from 29 to 77 cu. m/h at 50 Hz. Through the ORBIT 8, BITZER is contributing to the achievement of even greater efficiency, thus responding flexibly to the energy efficiency requirements faced by the HVAC industry. A further major advantage of the ORBIT 8 series is its operating sound levels, which are up to three dB(A) lower than those of rival products. Meanwhile, the very low oil circulation level of less than one percent leads to improved heat transfer properties and greater system efficiency and reliability.
