Vor allem die Telekommunikations- und Internetanbieter haben den Markt im vergangenen Jahr getrieben. Sie gaben rund 108 Millionen Euro für klassische Onlinewerbung aus. Auf dem zweiten Platz folgten die Banken und Finanzdienstleister, die immerhin noch 89 Millionen Euro investierten. Handel und Versandhäuser (85 Millionen Euro), Medien und Entertainmentanbieter (40 Millionen Euro) sowie Autobauer (35 Millionen Euro) vervollständigten die Top-5. Eine untergeordnete Rolle spielte die Onlinewerbung hingegen noch für die Hersteller von Markenbekleidung. Ihre Ausgaben beliefen sich 2006 auf gerade einmal 300.000 Euro.
Zu den größten Trends des vergangenen Jahres zählte die Werbung mit bewegten Bildern. Wie im Fernsehen sind zunehmend auch im Internet kurze Spots zu sehen. „Die rasante Verbreitung schneller Internetzugänge hat jetzt endgültig den Weg für diese Werbeform geebnet. In Deutschland verfügte Ende des vergangenen Jahres bereits jeder dritte Haushalt über einen Breitbandanschluss“, sagte Harms. „Bemerkenswert ist auch das Hoch im Online-Werbemarkt zur Mitte des Jahres. Hier hat offenbar die Fußballweltmeisterschaft zu einer besonders starken Nachfrage geführt.“ Im zweiten Quartal 2006 waren die Umsätze auf ein Rekordhoch von 133 Millionen Euro geschnellt.
