BLOTrix 4 Cubos (B4C), the new generation of software for analysis of blots, line assays, and lateral flow rapid tests

The assessment software BLOTrix in the 4. generation from the company BioSciTec is now being successfully used in diagnostic laboratories and doctors practices since more than 8 years. The system has been continuously and successfully further developed in close collaboration with well-known manufacturers and users of strip tests. Today the BLOTrix software is used in several hundred laboratories throughout the world, also under various other names such as „recomScan“, „AutoScan Pro“ and „Trinblot“. All these products except for company-specific settings were developed identical to the software BLOTrix from the company BioSciTec.

The latest version of BLOTrix is the software BLOTrix 4 Cubos, or B4C for short. This version it has been developed for the assessment and documentation of line tests, rapid tests, lateral flow tests. The B4C software comes with a completely newly designed user interface. It is easy to operate and adapted to the requirements of laboratory use. Equipped with only four basic buttons it allows efficient navigation and is easy to learn. At any given moment the software only displays the elements that are required for the current processing context. This provides consistently clearly arranged menu navigation. In addition to this the software supports the safety of the user during the work. If the cassette tests have a barcode then the software will detect the test in the reader. The „Intelligent Shape Detection“ (ISD) technology supports the detection of shape and position of the diagnostic tests. This means that the user does not have to pay attention to the positioning of the tests on the reading device. The tests are read in with a special scanning system. BioSciTec have different models available. The small C1-Reader for only one test, the R2-Reader for up to 10 tests, and the S1-Reader for up to 40 tests with one reading process.

For the high throughput of measurements in medium-sized and large laboratories the B4C can be easily integrated into the internal laboratory EDP system (LIMS). In smaller laboratories or doctor’s practices the data management can be undertaken using the own supplied database. This also allows the storage of patient data and assessment histories. A feature to design clearly laid out freely definable patient reports rounds off the software package.

Die BioSciTec GmbH ist in der Entwicklung, Produktion und im Vertrieb von Imaging-Solutions im Bereich der Biowissenschaften tätig. Zu unserm Portfolio gehören insbesondere Systeme zur semiautomatisierten Auswertung von Teststreifen, Koloniezählung und Gel-Dokumentation.
Die Firma BioSciTec Science Group wurde 1997 von Dr. Robert Jäger in Marburg gegründet. In den ersten Jahren wurden die Gel-Dokumentations-Software „GelScan“ und das Mikroskopietool „CellExplorer“ entwickelt und erfolgreich vermarktet. Nach der Umfirmierung zur BioSciTec GmbH und Umzug nach Frankfurt am Main Ende 2001 wurde die Labordiagnostik mit der Entwicklung der „BLOTrix“ Software zur Auswertung von Infektionsteststreifen als neues Marktsegment erschlossen.
Ab Mitte der 2000er rückte die Entwicklung und Herstellung von optischen Lese-Geräten gleichberechtigt neben die Software-Herstellung. Mit dem Einstieg von Felix Dirla als zweitem Gesellschafter-Geschäftsführer wurde das „BLOTrix“-System CE-markiert und die Internationalisierung des Unternehmens ausgebaut.
Heute ist die BioSciTec GmbH als kompetenter Ansprechpartner für die automatisierte Bild-Analyse in der Labor-Diagnostik nicht mehr wegzudenken. Mittlerweile arbeiten wir mit den weltweit führenden Teststreifen-Herstellern zusammen und unsere Systeme zur Auswertung von diagnostischen Streifentests erreichten in 2007 eine führende Marktposition. Neben den Standardprodukten bieten wir unserem wachsenden Kundenstamm weitere Speziallösungen an, die als OEM-Software z.B. in Produkten für das ColonyCounting und die Laser-Mikrodissektion implementiert sind.
Dabei arbeiten wir in einem interdisziplinäres Team, das die Sprache der Biowissenschaften genauso spricht wie die der Informatik und der Mathematik. Zusammen mit unserem professionellen Projektmanagement garantiert dies eine termingerechte und wunschgemäße Umsetzung von Kundenanforderungen.
