BLOTrix 4 Cubos (B4C), the new generation of software for analysis of blots, line assays, and lateral flow rapid tests.

BioSciTec at the Medica 2012 in Düsseldorf

(PresseBox) (Frankfurt/Main, )
The assessment software BLOTrix in the 4. generation from the company BioSciTec is now being successfully used in diagnostic laboratories and doctors practices since more than 8 years. The system has been continuously and successfully further developed in close collaboration with well-known manufacturers and users of strip tests. Today the BLOTrix software is used in several hundred laboratories throughout the world, also under various other names such as „recomScan“, „AutoScan Pro“ and „Trinblot“. All these products except for company-specific settings were developed identical to the software BLOTrix from the company BioSciTec.

The latest version of BLOTrix is the software BLOTrix 4 Cubos, or B4C for short. In the first version it has been developed for the assessment and documentation of rapid tests and lateral flow tests. By the end of the year it will also be available for line-assays. The B4C software comes with a completely newly designed user interface. It is easy to operate and adapted to the requirements of laboratory use. Equipped with only four basic buttons it allows efficient navigation and is easy to learn. At any given moment the software only displays the elements that are required for the current processing context. This provides consistently clearly arranged menu navigation. In addition to this the software supports the safety of the user during the work. If the cassette tests have a barcode then the software will detect the test in the reader. The „Intelligent Shape Detection“ (ISD) technology supports the detection of shape and position of the diagnostic tests. This means that the user does not have to pay attention to the positioning of the tests on the reading device. The tests are read in with a special scanning system. BioSciTec have different models available. The small C1-Reader for only one test, the R2-Reader for up to 10 tests, and the S1-Reader for up to 40 tests with one reading process.

For the high throughput of measurements in medium-sized and large laboratories the B4C can be easily integrated into the internal laboratory EDP system (LIMS). In smaller laboratories or doctor’s practices the data management can be undertaken using the own supplied database. This also allows the storage of patient data and assessment histories. A feature to design clearly laid out freely definable patient reports rounds off the software package.

BioSciTec GmbH

The company BioSciTec GmbH is actively involved in the development, production and marketing of imaging solutions in the area of biosciences. Our portfolio especially includes systems for semiautomatic assessment of test strips, colony counting and gel documentation.
The company BioSciTec Science Group was founded in 1997 by Dr. Robert Jäger in Marburg. During the first years the gel documentation software „GelScan“ and the microscopy tool „CellExplorer“ were developed and successfully marketed. After the renaming to BioSciTec GmbH and relocation to Frankfurt at the end of 2001, the field of laboratory diagnostics was developed as a new market segment with the development of the „BLOTrix“ software for the assessment of infection test strips.
Since the middle of the first decade of the 2000s the development and manufacture of optical reading devices became as equally important as the production of software. With the joining of Felix Dirla as second owner-manager the „BLOTrix“ system became CE labelled and the internationalisation of the company was developed.
Today, automated image analysis in the field of laboratory diagnostics is unimaginable without the company BioSciTec GmbH as a competent contact partner. We now cooperate with the worldwide leading test strip manufacturers and our systems for the assessment of diagnostic test strips reached a leading market position in the year 2007. Apart from the standard products we offer our growing customer base further specialised solutions, which are implemented as OEM software, e.g. in products for colony counting and laser micro-dissection.
We thereby work in an interdisciplinary team, which equally speaks the language of the biosciences, as well as information science and mathematics. Together with our professional project management this guarantees on-schedule implementation of customer requirements.

We look forward to meeting you!
