The liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal is located on the island of Sakhalin in the Sea of Okhotsk, north of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. The offshore facilities, which also came within the scope of the analysis, are located off the eastern coast of the island. Bilfinger Industrial Services and Sakhalin Energy had been in contact with each other for around a year prior to the award of the contract. The contract itself arose from initial talks with Gazprom Sakhalin Holdings B.V., Sakhalin Energy's majority shareholder. The project posed a particular challenge for the experts at Bilfinger Industrial Services as the processes to be analysed had been established by specialists with extremely advanced technological and methodological skills.
For Dr. Michael Herbermann, CEO of Bilfinger Industrial Services, the project testified to the high esteem in which the Group's services are held in the market: "We are able to combine methodological skills with field experience. This is what characterises the strength of our experts and is of great appeal to global market leaders such as Gazprom."
During the execution of the project, the experts from Bilfinger Industrial Services were supported by specialists from affiliate Bilfinger Industrial Technologies and its subsidiary Tebodin. By working together in this way, the Company will be able to accept even larger contracts for the analysis of industrial facilities and processes.
