Since its formation in January 2010, BIS Industrial Services Ltd. (BIS IS) has consistently met and in many cases exceeded the milestones it set itself. Headquartered in Runcorn, Cheshire, UK, the company continues to excite the UK market with its industrial service offering and has recently secured further frame-contracts worth up to 200m euro of forward work from Innospec Manufacturing, ConocoPhillips, EDF Energy, and BP Chemicals:
- Innospec Manufacturing - Retained Combined Service Contract
- ConocoPhillips - Retained SIP Contract
- EDF West Burton and Cottam - Secured New SIP Contract
- BP Saltend - Secured New Combined Service Contract.
The company is growing at an extraordinary pace and these recent successes confirm its ability to achieve significant growth in difficult trading conditions. Coupled with its excellent HSEQ performance, BIS IS is now exploiting this leading position to enter new markets, including the nuclear and renewable sectors.
Innospec Manufacturing
The Innospec Manufacturing renewal contract was awarded after a rigorous tendering process. It includes the provision of a full range of maintenance services at the Ellesmere Port and Widnes sites. This 3-year contract worth 9m euro is further evidence of the excellent relationship already established with Innospec Manufacturing. Throughout the contract BIS IS will employ up to 60 multi-skilled workers who will provide mechanical, electrical, instrumentation engineering as well as scaffolding, insulation and painting. Further services such as asbestos removal will also be provided when required.
ConocoPhillips
At ConocoPhillips Refinery & I-CHP, Humberside, Lincolnshire, BIS IS has secured the renewal, plus additional extended scope of one of its largest industrial services contracts, including the provision of scaffolding, insulation, painting and asbestos removal. Employing up to 200 personnel, this 4 year maintenance contract has a volume of over 60m euro and is strategically important to BIS IS's East Region operations; so securing this renewal against tough competition guarantees its position as the sole provider of maintenance support services at the refinery and power station for the foreseeable future.
EDF West Burton and Cottam
Following a challenging tender process BIS IS finally concluded a significant term maintenance contract award with EDF Energy at their Cottam and West Burton Power Stations in Nottinghamshire. This recently secured 5-year contract, worth 60m euro for the provision of scaffolding, insulation and painting and asbestos management services represents a significant step forward for BIS IS within the UK power sector. The contract is due to start in February 2012 and a structured transition process is now underway that will see BIS IS inherit approximately 60 personnel from the previous contractor through TUPE transfer.
BP Saltend
In addition to this and in recognition of its growing reputation in the UK as a company customers want to do business with, BP Saltend Chemicals Park, Hull has awarded BIS IS a 5-year combined services contract, delivering a range of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and scaffolding, insulation and painting services across a number of multi-customer assets on the Saltend Chemicals Park. Throughout the tender process, BP was particularly impressed by the broad range of services and the ongoing technological and process improvements BIS IS can offer. On this basis they identified the company as their preferred choice for the provision of maintenance support for planned and unplanned activities, projects and turnarounds. BIS IS will now become the main provider of industrial services across the entire facility.
With an annual production capacity of over 1.5 million tonnes and covering 370 acres, the Saltend Chemical Park in Hull is a strategic part of BP's worldwide operations. The park is owned and operated by BP and supports some seven global manufacturing units, two of which belong to BP for the production of Europe's largest supply of acetic acid (500,000 tonnes a year). Processing such volumes of chemicals safely and efficiently requires an extensive ongoing management, maintenance and renewal regime of considerable scale.
The contract has a volume of 70m euro and is scheduled to start in May 2012 and will see approximately 260 personnel transfer from the incumbent contractor through the TUPE process. Alex Curry, BP Delivery Manager stated. "We are excited about working with BIS IS; they are a company, who through the tender process, demonstrated their culture, HSE capabilities, intelligence, regional strength and level of technical support and we look forward to working with them in the future."
For Dr. Rudolf K. Jürcke, COO of the BIS Group, the new contracts are confirmation of the company's strategy: "We win over customers with excellent quality and reliability both in technical terms and in all aspects of work safety. In addition to the expertise of BIS IS, our customers benefit from the skills and experience which we are able to access via our international network of BIS companies and which we are extending all the time."
Duncan Hall, Managing Director, BIS IS, adds: "Each of these contracts is a fantastic endorsement of the safety and delivery performance delivered by the teams at BIS IS. To continue working with Innospec, a relationship that spans nearly 20 years, and ConocoPhillips demonstrates our ability to keep improving and meeting the challenges of demanding customers. In securing new contracts at BP Saltend and EDF, both these customers have recognised the safety performance and innovation that BIS IS can bring to their sites, this being validated through a detailed tender process involving multiple reference site visits in the UK and on the continent. Our total commitment to delivering these contracts in the safest possible manner is our goal."
These recent contract wins once again demonstrate the growing strength of BIS IS within its chosen markets, providing a platform for further growth and strengthening the company's presence as the market leader in the delivery of industrial services to the UK power, process and petrochemical industries. Backed by an experienced and focused shareholder who provides knowledge, relationships and investment backing to meet the changing demands of the UK market, BIS IS will continue to provide its customers with cost and risk reduction benefits, whilst maintaining focus on delivery, reputation and ongoing innovation.
