Promoting synergies in AUTOSAR developments

Berner & Mattner Joins the COMASSO Initiative

(PresseBox) (Munich, Germany, )
Berner & Mattner has joined the COMASSO initiative, which was launched this summer by the Robert Bosch GmbH. The COMASSO association aims to promote the collective use and implementation of the AUTOSAR standards. AUTOSAR developments in the field of embedded systems, which do not affect competition, should be exchanged as an open source concept and used mutually. As a software provider, integrator and test expert for AUTOSAR developments, Berner & Mattner welcomes this initiative and will support it immediately.

After ten years of AUTOSAR development (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture), COMASSO believe that there are numerous implementations that have lead to integration expenses in companies, without having helped further differentiate the company on the market. The COMASSO association wants to counteract this by providing an organizational and technical platform in order to develop and maintain a shared AUTOSAR basic software.

"Our Competence Center for 'AUTOSAR and Virtual Integration' recognizes the high integration expenses that are being invested in systems that don't provide competitive advantages," says Jürgen Meyer, Head of Automotive Division. COMASSO has the potential to give the original idea of AUTOSAR new energy and to extend the cooperation in terms of standards to include basic technologies. COMASSO has convinced us that it makes sense to further develop the AUTOSAR standard by developing basic components together. This way, all companies can incorporate the standards and developers can concentrate more on successfully implementing innovations."
