Berner & Mattner Provides Consulting on TPEG Automotive

Berner & Mattner expands its portfolio of services to include the area "Mobile services for the road - TPEG Automotive." Based on the ISO standard TPEG (Transport Protocol Experts Group), the protocol family TPEG Automotive is the basis for important future traffic information services in vehicles. Since 2004, Berner & Mattner has been deeply involved in the development of this standard using the expertise gained as basis for the new portfolio of services in this area. This portfolio comprises training, consulting and supporting the customers in specifying and modeling components as well as project management of ECU software development.

The use of TPEG Automotive enables the transmission of much more detailed traffic information than has been possible with TMC (Traffic Message Channel). Accurate and comprehensive information on traffic and road conditions in the vicinity of the vehicle allow for more efficient driver assistance and navigation systems. "The quality of traffic information systems will significantly be advanced through TPEG. In addition, more intelligent vehicle electronics support anticipatory and resource-efficient driving and thus safety as well", explains Dr. Joachim Mertz, project manager and consultant at Berner & Mattner and chairman of the TPEG Application Working Group at TISA (Traveller Information Services Association). "This opens interesting opportunities and challenges to car manufacturers and their suppliers. Berner & Mattner offers assistance through training, consulting, development and quality control."
