Bechtle further expands headquarters

(PresseBox) (Neckarsulm, )
  • New building will create space for an additional 600 workstations
  • Office to be heated and cooled using geothermal energy
  • Opening scheduled for October 2020
Bechtle to expand its headquarters in Neckarsulm once again. Construction on a new detached office building, providing space for an additional 600 workstations is due to begin in early February. Currently, around 1,800 of Bechtle’s more than 10,000 employees throughout Europe are based in Neckarsulm. The new 8,700 square metre office space should be completed in October 2020. In 2004, Bechtle and its then 450 employees moved into the new headquarters at Bechtle Platz 1 and since then, the building has been extended over the course of several phases.

Bechtle AG is expanding its office space to a total of 35,300 square metres. The new complex—with external dimensions of 45 x 50 metres and four storeys—is being constructed as an extension to the existing office space. “All signs point to further growth for Bechtle. With one eye on our Vision 2030, the new build will help us create the conditions for a sustainable and strong corporate development at the Neckarsulm site”, says Dr Thomas Olemotz, CEO, Bechtle AG.

Modern workplace for 600 employees.

The new office building will provide around 600 state-of-the-art workplaces for additional employees. “We currently have capacity at Bechtle Platz 1 for over 100 new staff, but against the background of the increase in the number of employees over recent years, we will soon reach our limits. The new build will perfectly complement our modern working environment and provide our employees with an attractive place to work,” explains Dr Thomas Olemotz.

Sustainability front and centre.

The focal point of the building will be an atrium complete with a glass roof and surrounded by galleries on all storeys, with the first floor to include Bechtle Corporate Health Management’s new home. As with other building projects at Bechtle Platz 1, the topic of sustainability is front and centre with the building being constructed on a geothermal field, the energy from which will be used to heat and cool the new offices. After completion of the new construction, the office and warehouse space at the company headquarters will total around 67,350 square metres—the equivalent of nine football pitches. The employee car park constructed in 2017 has space for some 1,600 cars and, with 50 power points for electric and hybrid vehicles, is one of the largest electric car charging stations in German
