Das am Lehrstuhl für Didaktik der Geographie der Universität Augsburg beheimate BAYSICS-Teilprojekt 8, geleitet von Sebastian Brumann und Prof. Dr. Ulrike Ohl, ermöglicht Schülerinnen und Schülern der gymnasialen Oberstufe, als Citizen Scientists den regionalen Klimawandel „vor der eigenen Haustür“ zu erforschen. Aktuell machen 35 Schulen in unterschiedlichen Regionen Bayerns mit.
BAYSICS ist Teil des Bayerischen Klimanetzwerks bayklif, in dem fünf interdisziplinäre Verbundprojekte und fünf Juniorforschergruppen die Folgen des Klimawandels untersuchen und Handlungsoptionen für Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft erarbeiten.
