Primers are used to ensure corrosion protection and optimal adhesion of the topcoat systems when coating cleaned and pretreated steel coils. The improved chromate-free universal primer harmonizes with any pretreatment of the steel, offering better surface cover and higher eco-efficiency than its predecessor. While the first generation of the primer still required a chromate-containing pre-treatment, the current version was specifically adapted to chromate-free pretreatment.
With further improved performance and as a homogeneous white system solution, the chromate-free universal primer offers ideal conditions for both smooth and textured topcoats and prevents the dreaded rust from occurring on galvanized steel panels even better than before. Corrosion protection values determined using the usual test methods exceeded all previous results. In standard tests such as the salt spray and climate chamber tests, not even a hint of rust could be detected. In addition to corrosion protection, COILTEC® UNIVERSAL P CF also represents the optimum of state-of-the-art technology in terms of spreading rate, functionality, adhesion, flexibility, and deep drawability. Since it can be used for all galvanized substrates and topcoat technologies, it accelerates and streamlines the production process. This saves time and money and is in addition good for the environment.
