BASF Coatings has scored a double victory. At the awarding of the "12th Prêmio Paint e Pintura," one of the most highly recognized prizes of Brazilian paint industry's, Suvinil, BASF Coatings' Latin American decorative paint brand, outscored its competitors in the "Decorative Paints" category. In addition, this year BASF won the "Industry Oscar" for the best raw materials for resins and emulsions for the tenth time. To continue its success on the burgeoning Brazilian market in the long term, Suvinil is closely cooperating with Relius, BASF Coatings AG's European architectural coatings brand, in the area of environmentally friendly technologies.

Customer orientation is a key factor for success

"The fact that Suvinil was selected as the best decorative paint brand at the Paint e Pintura competition recognizes our ongoing investment in our products. We know exactly what our customers want and need, and this allows us to offer them perfect support through our unique service and special programs. The distinction confirms that the strategy we're pursuing is the right one," said Francisco Verza, head of BASF's Decorative Paints business in South America.

Valter Milani, head of Marketing and Sales for the acrylic monomers and superabsorbents business, calls the victory in the category best raw materials for resins and emulsions "absolutely super," and with good reason. BASF alone received more votes than all three second-place winners put together. Milani sees the team as a major factor in the success. "To stay at the top, it's important to work with a motivated team, to have good marketing strategies and to convince customers with perfect service," Milani said.

In the overall category "Empresa Master" (best company), BASF was also among the top three, with a second place based on the company's good services in all 34 of the individual categories.
