R-M, BASF Coatings' paint brand, presented the first environmentally friendly custom refinishing job at the Essen Motor Show. With CARIZZMA, a new product line from R-M specially developed for car tuning, the age of solventborne coatings will soon be over. There are new standards out there, and they are especially true for the tuning scene. The European environmental regulations must be observed when refinishing vehicle bodies. To comply with the European volatile organic compound (VOC) directives, refinishing products must have a much lower solvent content than was previously the case. There are no exceptions to this stringent legislation, not even for special paints, as R-M communicated at the Essen Motor Show. CARIZZMA is both VOC compliant and environmentally friendly, since it is based on the OXYX HD waterborne paint system, which has been tried and tested all over the world. The R-M team presented four Audi TTs at the Essen Motor Show. The cars, all of which were refinished with CARIZZMA, will be on display as part of a road show touring at trade fairs, importers, dealers and customers' sites over the next two years. Karl-Heinz Edinger, head of Sales for R-M Germany, said, "Your own car is a means of communication. A car is a lifestyle object that uses design and color to send messages to the environment."

The seminar for advanced users focuses on planning and offers working aids for creative designs and techniques for complex designs such as "Flaming," "Real Flames" and "Ghost Flames."
