Die B. Braun Melsungen AG hat aufgrund der stetig anwachsenden Nachfrage nach PVC (Polyvinylchlorid)-freien Produkten für die Applikation von Arzneimitteln in der Infusions- und Transfusionstherapie eine aktuelle Übersicht der PVC-freien Produkte erstellt.

Verschiedene Arzneimittel dürfen nicht mit PVC-haltigen Überleitsystemen verabreicht werden. Die in PVC-Leitungen enthaltenen Weichmacher können vom Medikament ausgewaschen werden und so in den Körper des Patienten gelangen. Dies wird mit PVC-freien Systemen vermieden. Hersteller von PVC-empfindlichen Arzneimitteln müssen in der gesetzlich vorgeschriebenen Fachinformation entsprechende Angaben machen, welche Schlauchmaterialien für die Applikation des Arzneimittels eingesetzt oder nicht eingesetzt werden dürfen.
