Avnet Technology Solutions, a global IT solutions distribution leader and operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), confirmed today that it has completed its acquisition of value-added IT distributor Amosdec SAS. Recognised as a leader in the areas of virtualisation, storage and training, Amosdec brings additional strength to Avnet Technology Solutions' data centre technology offerings in France.

Founded in 1990, Amosdec distributes solutions for key data centre technologies to more than 500 value-added resellers (VARs) in France. Its specialised approach makes Amosdec a well recognised and respected partner to VARs and technology suppliers. In addition to being a leading VMware distributor and a key distribution partner to NetApp, Amosdec carries other industry-recognised software lines enabling it to deliver complete solutions that address end-customer business problems. The company also offers a broad range of on- and off-site training which it has delivered to thousands of engineers, supporting them with accreditations and increasing their competencies in data centre technologies.

Commenting on the acquisition, Graeme Watt, president, Avnet Technology Solutions, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) said, "This is yet another strategic investment reinforcing our goal to be the premier IT solutions distributor. By leveraging Amosdec's strong leadership and talented employees, and capitalising on the global expertise and financial strength of Avnet, we will accelerate the success of our partners in France. Our objective is to take Avnet Technology Solutions France from being a significant value-add distributor to being the leading solutions distributor in the next few years."

Channel partners in France will benefit from Avnet Technology Solutions' global scale and scope, as well as its unique approach to the market. As an IT solutions distributor, the organisation has built upon its logistics, sales, marketing, technical and financial services heritage to provide its VAR partners with the intellectual property, tools and resources needed to efficiently and successfully expand their sales into high-growth markets. The organisation focuses on developing complete solutions that include hardware, software and services to meet the challenges of end customers.

Serge Aziza, founder of Amosdec, stated, "By combining the high-value approach of Amosdec with Avnet Technology Solutions' scale and scope, we will enable our value-added resellers and suppliers to more efficiently capitalise on the market opportunities in France. Our aim is to expand our ability to support our partners' long-term business goals."

Amosdec's partnerships with VMware and NetApp are complementary to the global relationships held by Avnet with these and additional leading technology suppliers. By leveraging these global relationships, Avnet Technology Solutions France is able to extend its technology portfolio to a wider range of VAR and system integrator partners, and provide them with greater growth opportunities.

Eric Saillard, senior director EMEA channels at NetApp, confirmed his support, "For NetApp, the recent acquisition by Avnet of Amosdec represents a real opportunity for us to broaden our relationship. Indeed, it combines the strength of Amosdec, in terms of its ability to develop new partners in the area of virtualisation, with the strength of Avnet Technology Solutions in Europe. The acquisition also supports NetApp's desire to gradually consolidate its distribution network in Europe without losing sight of what has made NetApp product distribution successful - something that Avnet, as a successful global distributor, understands implicitly."
