Frankfurt – April 25, 2007 – Attenda, the Always On Managed Services company, today announced that it has been selected by Microsoft to join its SaaS On-Ramp program, which is designed to assist Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to deliver their applications through Software as a Service (SaaS).

Many leading software vendors, including Microsoft’s LIVE initiative, are already delivering their Software as a Service, enabling them to overcome various problems associated with the traditional licence fee model. These problems include issues such as one-off sales revenues as opposed to recurring fees, long sales cycles and higher support costs.

Gartner predicts that SaaS market will grow seven times faster than on premise software during the next three years and that by 2011, 25% of new business software will be delivered as software as a service.

Attenda, with its extensive experience of SaaS is already assisting numerous ISVs in overcoming the commercial and technical challenges in adopting a SaaS model for the delivery of their software applications. Attenda’s SaaS clients include BIW, CAPS Solutions, Simplex, Staffcare and Service Works Global.

“Many ISVs are recognising the benefits of the SaaS model and enterprises are increasingly requesting for their applications to be delivered in this way,” said Martin Walker, UK Software as a Service Manager, Microsoft Communications Sector. “The Microsoft SaaS On-Ramp Program will help lower the initial costs to the ISV and the knowledge and experience of companies such as Attenda will help to further ease and drive the adoption to SaaS for ISVs.”

Fowle concludes, “Analysts predict a huge growth in the SaaS market in the next three years and Attenda is planning to make a significant contribution to fuelling this growth.”

Under the Microsoft SaaS On-Ramp program, ISVs will be able to take advantage of special introductory licensing pricing for Windows Standard Edition Processor Licences and Microsoft SQL Standard Edition Processor Licences. Participating vendors will also receive all the benefits associated with Microsoft’s Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA), a flexible licensing program that allows ISVs to license Microsoft products on a monthly subscription basis and to offer services and hosted applications to their end customers. It includes access to the latest versions of Microsoft software and the ability to grant customer demos for 60 days. The SaaS On-Ramp Program will run from November 2006 to April 2008 and is part of a global effort to attract ISVs to deliver SaaS.
