- arvato Systems sponsors the 20th RoboCup, the world’s biggest competition for intelligent robots
- More than 500 teams from over 40 countries are expected to attend the robotics technology event in Leipzig
RoboCup is the leading competition for intelligent robots and one of the world’s most important technology events. Sponsored by arvato Systems, the event combines a number of interdisciplinary competitions. In addition to soccer-playing robots, visitors can learn more about robotics at the Leipzig fairgrounds. Fascinating examples of how this technology can be applied include self-driving vehicles and robot-based assistance systems for health care, robots in the workplace and in industrial production, home environments, and as helpers in disaster situations.
“We are looking forward to greeting the next generation of technology developers and designers in Leipzig and getting to know them better. This event is an excellent opportunity for arvato Systems to discuss new ways in which robotics can be used in business and industry. The technology is developing at a very rapid pace, which is why we are eager to see how sophisticated robots have become in 2016. We wish all of the players and participants along the sidelines an excellent RoboCup,” says Thomas Nautsch, managing director of arvato Systems perdata in Leipzig, which is supporting the event as sponsor.
RoboCup was initiated by the international RoboCup Federation. Since 1997, the organization has been pursuing its goal of developing intelligent humanoid soccer-playing robots by 2050, capable of going up against the flesh-and-blood defending champions of the FIFA World Cup, and even winning. RoboCup has been held worldwide in a different location every year since 1997 and will take place for the second time in Germany this year. More than 500 teams from over 40 countries are expected at the Leipzig fairgrounds, ready to face off against each other in various leagues and disciplines.
