- Stadtwerke Leipzig (SWL) relies on cloud-based end-to-end solution for the operation of metering points, including invoicing
- Arvato Systems supports the company in its roll-out of smart meters
The new platform-based invoicing system replaces the previous SAP landscape. As a metering point operator, Stadtwerke Leipzig will be invoicing 302,000 market locations using the industry solutions myBusiness smartEnergy and myBusiness Supplier, which are used as modules of the Arvato Energy Platform (AEP). In addition to the project, Arvato Systems is also supporting the utility company in setting up the new data formats (NDF) by April 1 of this year.
The end-to-end solution maps all market communication processes for Leipzig’s utility company in an integrated manner. These include device management, invoicing processes, and switchover processes in metering in the backend. Other important components in the product portfolio include value-added applications in metering data, for example, for distributors in the area of rate scheduling or energy efficiency portals for commercial customers and municipalities.
The metering equipment already installed will be switched over to the new invoicing solution by mid-year. After that, preparations will begin for the development of a portal for the smart metering devices.
Modern metering equipment refers to electronic power meters with a digital display. Consumers will have a better overview of their consumption thanks to the detailed display on the new electricity meter, enabling them to identify potential savings in their electricity consumption. A modern metering device becomes a smart meter only when used together with a communication unit for digital remote reading (smart meter gateway). The roll-out of these smart metering devices is scheduled to be completed in Germany by 2032, when all existing metering points are required to have a smart metering device.
