- EMVO relies on arvato Systems’ IT expertise
- International use of the Blueprint system for implementation of the EU Falsified Medicines Directive
As part of the securPharm initiative, medicines manufacturer associations in Germany have already relied on the expertise of arvato Systems for some time. They commissioned the company to develop, implement, and host an IT solution to protect against counterfeit medications by traceably mapping the entire life cycle of pharmaceutical packaging. Over 25 manufacturers now upload the serial numbers on their packaging to the system. So far it has been possible to verify more than 16 million pharmaceutical packages with serial numbers from participating pharmacies. The solution already supports the provisions expected to be included in the EU Falsified Medicines Directive.
Proven system ready for international roll-out
EMVO has now officially recognized the IT system from arvato Systems as the National Blueprint Service. This allows arvato Systems to provide the 28 EU countries with a proven method to quickly and cost-efficiently implement all aspects of the EU Falsified Medicines Directive, which is set to come into force in 2019. “We’re delighted that our service provider, arvato Systems, now has the opportunity to expand the proven system on a European level and implement it in other countries,” Dr. Reinhard Hoferichter, representative of the board of securPharm e.V.
arvato Systems provides comprehensive solution platforms for serialization in the healthcare segment. They can support individual manufacturers as well as national verification systems. To this end, arvato Systems relies on a dedicated team of serialization experts that have already implemented numerous projects on an international scale. “Our end-to-end solutions cover the entire process chain, from pharmaceutical manufacturers right through to verification in pharmacies,” says Peter Koop, Director Finance & Healthcare at arvato Systems.
