  • Growth potential identifiable in the urban & last-mile delivery sector
  • With platbricks®, Arvato Systems offers digital solutions for this market
Arvato Systems has joined the Bundesverband der Kurier-Express-Post-Dienste e.V. (BdKEP). This association represents the trade interests of medium-sized and courier, express, parcel, and mail service companies in Germany. Arvato Systems offers digital solutions for this market, primarily via its cloud logistics platform platbricks®, for example, for micro-depot management or via various courier apps.

"We are currently seeing a strong trend for services in the urban & last mile delivery sector and thus enormous growth potential for our modular logistics platform platbricks®," explains Bernd Jaschinski-Schürmann, Head of Digital Supply Chain Management & Platform Business at Arvato Systems. "However, for a successful entry into this market, it is necessary to provide collaborative, digital services that do not work without a strong partner network. The BdKEP offers such a network, which is why we want to get involved here in the future. At the same time, the association and its members benefit from our strong economic base and high innovation and scalability." One example is Arvato Systems' participation in the European GAIA-X research initiative. As consortium leader, the IT service provider is currently involved in the "GAIA-X 4 ROMS" project to develop a mobility platform for autonomously navigating parcel stations.

"In many discussions with companies from different industries, we perceive a considerable need to automate, optimize and make processes resilient. Current social developments - e.g., the shortage of skilled workers, supply bottlenecks or high inflation - further accelerate this course," adds Pascal Leppich, PreSales & Business Development at Arvato Systems. "Flexible, digital solutions like platbricks® can significantly improve collaboration within and across companies. We are pleased to have found a partner in BdKEP who has recognized this and supports its members in mastering these challenges with innovative solutions."

Andreas Schumann, chairman of BdKEP, says: "We are very much looking forward to working with Arvato Systems. The partnership expands and enriches the respective networks and strengthens medium-sized CEP companies. In this way, they can better master the challenges arising from digitalization."

platbricks® - A platform with a wide range of possibilities

With its modular kit character, the cloud logistics platform platbricks®, based on Microsoft Azure, offers a wide range of optimization potential for courier, express, and parcel services. For example, when setting up so-called store or micro depots, i.e., small warehouses in urban areas or local branches. From goods receipt and inventory management to door-to-door delivery - companies have access to all processes in the urban supply chain via a central control station and mobile devices. In addition, platbricks® supports, for example, route planning - including the last mile - and the platbricks® Driver App, a native application for mobile devices, enables digital order processing, including GPS tracking.
