Applicants need to have experience in developing apps (Android or iOS) and, if they happen to win, they must be able to accept and carry out their development mandates. The participants are selected on the basis of their past work and invited to Nuremberg to attend the four-day App Camp held on the premises of the Fraunhofer ISS. This includes travel expenses and full board and lodging along with all transfer travel and the accompanying entertainment programme. After presentation of the concepts on the last day of the App Camp, a jury will select the two winners.
Two categories are available to the participants for the development of the app concepts, and both are intended to make the European partner cities of the app camps smarter - namely Nuremberg and Vienna.
- Experience Nuremberg - shopping and more Nuremberg wants its future SeamlessCities app to enrich the shopping experience in the city's centre for both citizens and visitors. The focus will be on local offers and localisation technologies.
- A smart, accessible, and green way to experience Vienna The objective of the SeamlessCities app for Vienna is to enable its citizens and visitors to experience the city - along with its parks and nature reserves - without worrying about barriers.
About the SeamlessCities project
The two-year SeamlessCities project is part of the strategic initiative for development of sustainable mobility solutions as part of the European Mobile and Mobility Industries Alliance (EMMIA). SeamlessCities is a large-scale demonstrator of intermodal transport services that provide seamless real-time navigation and environmental information. It aims to facilitate applications for seamless localisation and navigation services for European urban areas and to boost the use of Earth observation data provided by the European programme Copernicus (previously known as GMES) in mobile services. The SeamlessCities project is coordinated by the company Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen and implemented in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institut für Integrierte Schaltungen IIS, the association Nürnberger Initiative für die Kommunikationswirtschaft (NIK) e.V. and Mobiliance AG.
