It was getting loud in the Munich BMW Welt on the opening evening of the transport logistic fair. The jubilation of the IFOY winners and the nightly percussion lightshow set an also acustically distinctive mark for intralogistics. 200 guests of honor followed the invitation of the IFOY to celebrate then winners of International Intralogistics and Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award 2017.
After the welcome address by the sponsor of the IFOY Award, Sascha Schmel, Managing Director VDMA Materials Handling and Logistics Systems Sector Association) and Gerhard Gerritzen, Deputy Managing Director at Messe München and partner of the IFOY Award, the 2017 finalists took part in a discussion session. The panel featured Christian Baerwolf (Senior Director, Crown), Dr. Lars Brzoska (Management Board Member, Jungheinrich), Thomas A. Fischer (Chief Sales Officer, Still), Elmar Issing (Vice President, SSI Schäfer), Bengt Kristiansson (Vice President, UniCarriers), Uwe Schildheuer (Managing Director, Torwegge), Markus Wozniak-Mauersberger (CEO, Kicktrike).
The tension was tangible, because – with the exception of the jury – no one knows beforehand which of the nominated vehicles will walk away with one of the prestigious awards. The names of the winners were announced by congratulatory speakers Gerhard Gerritzen (Deputy Managing Director, Messe München), Birgit Heitzer, (Director Corporate Logistics, Rewe Group), Jürgen Maidl (Senior Vice President Production Network and Logistics, BMW AG), Dr. Jochen Köckler (Member of the Board, Deutsche Messe AG).
