Full-ruggedized industrial Sub-Notebook with 12.1” display

Small, powerful, indestructible – Acturion Datasys presents the smallest and lightest industrial Notebook for outdoor applications

(PresseBox) (Munich, )
Munich, January 10th. 2007 – The Acturion Datasys GmbH (www.acturion.com) specialized system provider in the field of industrial- and military mobile computing presents with the Victum-Note 12 the smallest and lightest full-ruggedized sub-notebook. The Outdoor-Notebook is designed for outdoor use in harsh environmental conditions.
The compact Victum-Note 12 combines low weight of less than 6.2lbs and the very compact measures of 10.8”(W) x 9.4” (D) x 1.7” (H) in a beautiful full metal die-cast housing which is completely sealed. The Victum-Note 12 is the ideal companion for technical service and maintenance personnel, law-enforcement officers, rescue workers or soldiers in mission. The outdoor notebook comes with Ingress Protection class IP54 and it fulfils the military standard MIL-STD810F.
The Victum-Note 12 is made for outdoor applications where ruggedness and highest reliability are required. The industrial notebook can withstand rain, dust, extreme temperatures, shock and vibrations. In the tests for the military standard MIL-STD810F the Victum-Note 12 is tortured with many tests like drop on plywood for 26 times from 3 ft. After and while these tests the notebook must still run.
The Victum-Note 12 has no fan inside and the full metal housing which consists of a special light weight die-cast magnesium alloy is completely sealed so no water or dust can get inside the notebook. The surface of the housing is hardened and has an antireflection coating. All corners have shock absorbing rubber bumpers to protect the notebook from extreme shocks and drops. As the Victum-Note 12 does not have any fans inside, heat pipes transfer the heat of the CPU to the housing. This heat sink ensures an operating temperature of up to +131°F (+55°C) with full CPU power available.
The Victum-Note 12 is based on a 1.6GHz Intel-Low-Voltage-Pentium-M-738-Processor with 2MB L2 Cache. Together with the Intel 855GME chipset even complex operations run with a breathtaking speed. The 12.1“colour TFT display has a standard resolution of 1024 x 768 Pixels. A sunlight readable hi-contrast display with polarisation filter is optional available as well as a resistive touch screen.
More technical features of the outdoor sub-notebook are: Up to 1 GB of RAM (512MB standard), a 2.5-inch 40 GB HDD in shock-mount upgradeable to 120GB and several I/O-Ports, like 2 USB-2.0-Ports, 1 external VGA-Port D-Sub for an external CRT, 1 RS232-Port with D-Sub connector, 1 Microphone jack and 1 Audio-Out jack, built-in touch pad with 2 mouse buttons and rubber keyboard, optional backlit by LEDs. For communications in networks the Victum-Note 12 comes with 10/100-Base-T-LAN-Port with RJ45 connector, 1 56K-Modem with RJ11 connector and an IEEE802.11b/g-WLAN-Port. A GSM/GPRS-Modem is optional available. The Victum-Note 12 offers AC97-Audio-Support and has 1 built-in waterproof speaker. Additionally the notebook has 1 PCMCIA-Slot type I/II with CardBus support.

The operating temperature range is -2°F (-20°C) through +131°F (+55°C). The base configuration comes with a Li-Ion battery with a lifetime of 3hrs and an AC-Power Supply with 100 V - 240 V power input. DC-Car adapter with 12 V - 32 V DC-In, backlit rubber keyboard, vehicle docking station with DVD-drive and office docking station with DVD drive are further options.

Prices start at 2,485 Euro, net, for the Victum-Note 12. All units are built to order; delivery time is 3-4 weeks ARO.
