Nach Darstellung der beiden Anbieter bestehen die All-in-one-Lösungen aus einer einzigartigen Kombination von Zuverlässigkeit und einfacher Handhabung, um Unternehmensdaten kostengünstig zu speichern, zu sichern und bereitzustellen. "Mit den schlüsselfertig gelieferten Lösungen entfällt der herkömmliche Aufwand für die Konfiguration und Bestellung einzelner Komponenten", hebt Jochen Bless, Bereichsleiter Produktmanagement bei Actebis Peacock hervor.
Für ihn fällt noch ein weiterer Vorteil ins Gewicht. Während bei den meisten NAS-Systemen das Betriebssystem auf mindestens einer der Festplatten laufen muss, wird bei der Cisco-Lösung die gesamte Einheit aus dem Netzwerkspeicher heraus über Linux gesteuert. Das gewährleistet zum einen noch mehr Stabilität und Zuverlässigkeit. Zum anderen macht es eine Konfiguration auch ohne angeschlossene Laufwerke möglich. Eine komplette Rekonfiguration ist jederzeit möglich. Die Festplatten können per "hot swapping" ausgetauscht und in andere Systemeinschübe einsortiert werden.
Aktuell bieten Actebis Peacock und Cisco zwei Versionen für bis zu 15 Nutzer an: eine Lösung mit zwei Laufwerkeinschüben und zwei 250-GB-Festplatten und eine weitere mit vier Einschüben und vier 500-GB-Platten samt jeweils dazugehöriger Back-up-Software.
