Real-time virtualization support for Windows 7 and VxWorks 6.8
acontis announces RTOS Virtual Machine technology support for Windows 7 and VxWorks 6.8
Using this solution offers broad scalability from low-end systems running on Intel Atom or VIA embedded processors up to high-end systems like Intel's Core i7.
Hardware consolidation is the biggest advantage when using real-time virtualization products.
Customers then are able to run general purpose operating systems like Windows XP or Windows 7 and real-time operating systems like VxWorks, QNX or On Time RTOS-32 on one single PC hardware.
In 1995 the first version of VxWin (combination of Windows and VxWorks) was available, at that time running on Windows 95.
Since 1996 KUKA is using this product in their own robot control systems.
In 2009 the new RTOS Virtual Machine technology was invented.
Based on this technology, several products are available now.
VxWin: real-time virtualization solution with Microsoft Windows and Wind River VxWorks on a single PC.
CeWin: real-time virtualization solution with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Windows CE on a single PC.
AT-RTOS32Win: real-time virtualization solution with Microsoft Windows and On Time Informatik RTOS-32 on a single PC.
QWin: real-time virtualization solution with Microsoft Windows and QNX Software System's QNX on a single PC.
For selected customers an early access release of the RTOSWin products for Windows 7 is available now.
VxWorks is fully support beginning with verson 5.4 up to 6.7, a beta version of the VxWorks 6.8 BSP is available as well.
